There are many iconic things to see in Boston, like the teapot pictured above, but that is definitely one of the newer attractions. I strongly recommend walking the Freedom Trail, which takes you to every major historical site, representing the beginning of our Nation. On the trail, you can now watch a reenactment of old Bostonians throwing tea in the harbor, or you can go through Paul Revere's house, and imagine what it would be like to live as a colonial. Whatever you choose, don't be concerned if you can't handle it all on foot, there are multiple bus tours that can help you on your way.

Apart from the historical aspect of Boston, there is a plethora of dining options, from Italian (in the North End) to seafood (down along the bay) to traditional American, multiple different ethnic foods, to pastry and of course the famous Lobster Roll or Lobstah Roll (found in the Quincy Market and Luke's among other places). And if you really want a great taste of Boston, head to Southie, and try the South Street Diner. The food is decent, but the service is the best part. Great accents and great conversation. A hidden gem.

The main reason for our trip to Boston this time was to experience Red Sox baseball! And it didn't disappoint. On our bucket list (especially mine) was to watch the Yankees vs the Red Sox and to experience the iconic Fenway Park. For me, there is a Neil Diamond connection to the Red Sox, and I was very pleased to sing out with the rest of the crowd in the 8th inning as they played Sweet Caroline over the sound system! What a treat for me, and it was two check marks on our list, three if you count seeing them play their biggest rival and win! Fenway is well worth the visit, and any seat gives you a great view of the game.

Walking or touring Boston gives you the chance to see the waterfront, with its colonial flare and the opportunity to go through the Mayflower II or the USS Constitution. You can go up to Bunker Hill (Breeds Hill actually) and see the iconic battleground as well as tour Charlestown...all well worth it!

One of the most fun ways to get a glimpse of Boston as well laugh is to take a Duck Tour, which takes you to multiple famous land and sea attractions, and it is all narrated by a local Bostonian, which is the best part.

Whether on the Freedom Trail or just visiting the North End (little Italy), make sure to visit the Old North Church, listen to the different accounts of well known people of the time or different cultural nuances through the headset you receive when you purchase your ticket. Visit the crypt under the church as well; it's small but fascinating. While you are still in the North End, stop into one of the many Italian Restaurants and have an appetizer and a beverage or a meal. It is all well worth it. And a visit to the North End wouldn't be complete without going to Mike's Pastry, even if only to see the long lines of tourists and locals alike. But, heads up, they only take cash.

To see more of Boston without as much walking, you can take the Hop on Hop off Trolley, or you can take the underground, which is easy and affordable. We took the underground to several different spots in the city, as well as Boston Common and Fenway Park.

If you take the narrated Hop on Hop off, you will get to see lots of different architecture like the picture above, which is reminiscent of Harlem in New York City. You will hear about the Omni Park Hotel where John F Kennedy proposed to Jackie and where the Boston Cream Pie was reportedly created. There is much to see, whether you have a short amount of time or several days, visiting Boston is worth it! Enjoy the history!
